Our colleagues at the Wolfson Unit specialise in maritime sector engineering, fluid dynamics and aerodynamics, applying their expertise to industry projects such as:

Marine technology and aerodynamics testing facilities

Working with the Wolfson Unit gives you access to high-specification research and commercial facilities, including:

  • model testing basins including towing tanks and ocean basin
  • two on-site wind tunnels
  • computational fluid dynamics (CFD) capabilities supported by high-performance computing resources

The Wolfson Unit team’s areas of expertise include vessel design, modelling and testing; maritime performance prediction and safety testing; aero and hydrodynamics; sports-related engineering; CFD; and wind tunnel testing.

The consultancy team brings a wealth of industry research and problem-solving experience, having worked on projects in the marine manufacturing, naval architecture, yacht design, offshore, sports, aerospace and defence industries, to name just some.
